Above & Beyond Award, 2/16
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Foundation presents an award within PBSO called the Above & Beyond Award.
The recipient of the Sheriff’s Foundation Above & Beyond Award for February is Corporal Robert Carpenter, Jr.
In the course of responding to a residence in Lake Worth late last year to check on the welfare of two young children, Cpl. Carpenter noticed how dirty the kids were. He learned that the home did not have a working hot water heater, so the children were avoiding bathing since the water was cold. He also learned that the only wall-mounted air conditioning unit was not working.
The single mother worked full time trying to make ends meet, but couldn’t afford the new appliances.
Cpl. Carpenter took it upon himself to contact the local Home Depot and explain the situation. As a result, the manager at Home Depot generously donated a hot water heater and A/C unit to the family.
An installer was then needed, so Cpl. Carpenter contacted Cleary Plumbing, and they generously offered to install the water heater and A/C at no charge. Deputy Adam Robinson also assisted with the install.
When the children came home from school that day, they were able to enjoy two things that most of us take for granted -- a hot shower and a cool house.
Corporal Robert Carpenter, Jr., the Sheriff’s Foundation thanks you for going Above & Beyond! |
